Oktoberfest in Cincinnati
Cincinnati has one of the richest German ties in all of America. With Munich, Bavaria as our sister city, and the location of largest the annual Oktoberfest, it is no wonder Cincinnatians love to celebrate all things Oktoberfest.
What is Oktoberfest?
Oktoberfest is a celebration of German culture and heritage. Oktoberfest began in October of 1810 as a celebration of the royal wedding between Prince Ludwig I and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. The next year, the royal couple continued their celebration starting in September and lasting until the first week of October. Their celebration never ended. Oktoberfest became an annual event held in Munich. This year Munich will be celebrating the 184th annual Oktoberfest. The festival atmosphere has spread far beyond Munich, there are hundreds of large and small Oktoberfest celebrations held annually throughout the United States. The largest Oktoberfest held in the US can be found right here in Cincinnati.

Oktoberfest Newport is promised to be the most authentic Oktoberfest in the area. The event will be in the Munich Oktoberfest style of large Fest Tent sponsored by German Beer Breweries. Each tent will have food, beer and music.
